Growing up in Ohio, I always knew what I wanted to do – draw pictures and write funny lines. Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, I worked in the advertising department of big department store which whetted my appetite for a fast paced environment, a commitment to customer service and the joy that comes with an employee discount card.
I served as an account executive for a direct marketing agency in England for several years, sold commercial graphic services and was the art director for a stationery company in Minnesota. Once I started freelancing as an illustrator and licensing my art on greeting cards, stationery, and giftware I never looked back.. Now with hundreds of products under license I’m able to bring my brand of humor and fun artwork to thousands of people. I am also an art business coach and teacher, helping artists discover the best markets for their best work.
Now, really–does anybody have more fun at work than me?
I also write and illustrate books including one all about this crazy business called License to Draw-How I Built a Fun Career in Art Licensing and You Can Too! My mystery novel, Gruesome Greetings takes place in a familiar setting to lots of us in this market and I am the illustrator of 12 Coloring Cafe® coloring books for adults, too!
You’ll find me in Florida in a little house by the water with my delightful husband Jim Marcotte and the best shelter dog ever, Larry.
